Best X’mas present

A season to be jolly. That phrase really suits the feeling i have right now. I’m totally ecstatic to find out that I’ve been promoted. Well, actually not that i was surprised to find out, but happy to know that it had materialized. There were hints here and there, especially coming from my Delivery Lead that i may get that role.. but i didn’t expect it to come so soon.

Furthermore, i’ve just joined this company for less than 6 months and also being the youngest in the team…. hey.. i’m the only one in the 20’s. LOL.

Well, looks like the extra late night and weekend works really paid off (by the way.. i am in the office right now :P). For the past 2 months was madness… a few times i was practically working 48 hrs full stretch… or working almost everyday across weekends. My manager (whom i’ve taken over his lead role in this account) told me that the past projects and task assigned to me was a test actually. 3 of us (team mates) were given different task and projects as a test to see who would come out best. To be honest, no failed project of course.. all completed the project with flying colours.. but somehow, i have the extra edge ahead of my closest competitor.

I’m not sure, but i did took a time to reflect, i guess because I was involved in most of the project management, proposal and time line plan out… and also working in a project as a team, and also single-handedly pulled through the most recent DC move at Belgium….. perhaps those were part of the many factors that contributed to this promotion.

It is going to be a challenge ahead… leading a team of engineers to serve a worldwide Belgian account. It may not be the biggest account in HP, but at least it will help me move forward in my career. Definitely special thanks to my Delivery Lead whom is my best buddy in this account… special thanks to the new Wintel Manager!! and of course… the Manager whom hired me at the first place. :) ….. last but not least… my team mates, whom worked effortlessly to serve our account well.

Year 2008 will be a promising and challenging year ahead.. wish me luck everyone. :)

Back to work…. hopefully i can complete in time to go back to my in-law’s place to celebrated the Dong Zhe festival…. its new year mannnnn….. i can’t believe i’m sitting here in the office, waiting for 10am to call the US client…. argh.. set back especially when dealing with things coming from US… their timezone is the exact opposite of ours.
