Foul mouth lady…

Every wonder why some ppl really has shit flying out of their mouth/mind each time they talk? This is what I got from my ex-colleague. Thought wanna strike a conversation via msn, only to get these sort of of replies from her…… Didn’t reply her coz I went down to watch football also didn’t escape from that foul mouth.

Not the first time though.. many times already. Perhaps this time was the final straw, which i kinda got bored of her dry jokes. Used to even have vendors asking me why she’s so grumpy all the time… some even asked me.. "her father died ar?"

Anyway, none of my business for that attitude of hers’. Just rather curious why.

Best X’mas present

A season to be jolly. That phrase really suits the feeling i have right now. I’m totally ecstatic to find out that I’ve been promoted. Well, actually not that i was surprised to find out, but happy to know that it had materialized. There were hints here and there, especially coming from my Delivery Lead that i may get that role.. but i didn’t expect it to come so soon.

Furthermore, i’ve just joined this company for less than 6 months and also being the youngest in the team…. hey.. i’m the only one in the 20’s. LOL.

Well, looks like the extra late night and weekend works really paid off (by the way.. i am in the office right now :P). For the past 2 months was madness… a few times i was practically working 48 hrs full stretch… or working almost everyday across weekends. My manager (whom i’ve taken over his lead role in this account) told me that the past projects and task assigned to me was a test actually. 3 of us (team mates) were given different task and projects as a test to see who would come out best. To be honest, no failed project of course.. all completed the project with flying colours.. but somehow, i have the extra edge ahead of my closest competitor.

I’m not sure, but i did took a time to reflect, i guess because I was involved in most of the project management, proposal and time line plan out… and also working in a project as a team, and also single-handedly pulled through the most recent DC move at Belgium….. perhaps those were part of the many factors that contributed to this promotion.

It is going to be a challenge ahead… leading a team of engineers to serve a worldwide Belgian account. It may not be the biggest account in HP, but at least it will help me move forward in my career. Definitely special thanks to my Delivery Lead whom is my best buddy in this account… special thanks to the new Wintel Manager!! and of course… the Manager whom hired me at the first place. :) ….. last but not least… my team mates, whom worked effortlessly to serve our account well.

Year 2008 will be a promising and challenging year ahead.. wish me luck everyone. :)

Back to work…. hopefully i can complete in time to go back to my in-law’s place to celebrated the Dong Zhe festival…. its new year mannnnn….. i can’t believe i’m sitting here in the office, waiting for 10am to call the US client…. argh.. set back especially when dealing with things coming from US… their timezone is the exact opposite of ours.

Young Lady Kidnapped: Have You Seen Her?

I’ve received this in my email, MSN, and even in my regular forum… thought I should also put it here to widen the chances.. hopefully she can be found, safe and sound. :(

Today morning I received an sms from Haris alerting of a kidnap of a young gal, ethnic Chinese by 3 guys at Shah Alam. Minutes ago I received an email from a close friend revealing more precise details of the kidnap enclosed with a picture of the young lady. According to the email received, the young lady whom was kidnapped is DORA GOH. The kidnapping took place at their office PADINI open parking lot in Glenmarie.

An eye witness said that she was grabbed by 2 guys, ethnic Chinese into a car which had another guy also ethic Chinese whom was in the drives seat. She described the man whom grabbed Dora as fat while the other was thin and tall (no further description was given-this general description might not be very helpful) As the incident was so sudden and unexpected, they only managed to collect that they were driving a Silver Toyota Camry (plate number 7641)

Anyone who has seen this lady or know of any information that can be helpful, please feel free to contact the nearest police station. Her life is possibly at stake so people please be alert and do take heed as it could have happened to any one of us.

Pondering….

Do you agree that sometimes human being can be very greedy? Give them one, and they want 2 more, give them 2 and they want even more. Is it human by nature? Or is it the natural instinct to fight for survival?

Reason being why I brought this up is that I’m not sure when will I feel contented or satisfied with what I have. I have to admit that I’m supposed to be rather satisfied of the current situation that I’m at right now. Good job, well paid(at least for the time being.. here we go again), good recognition, nice simple home. But somehow… i feel as if I’m lacking something, or rather .. I want more. Can be anything… or everything. I just want everything.

In fact, I even want to bring everything to my wife… getting her favourite stuffs, designers’ wear, new car… etc.. everything.

Am I expecting too much from myself or from anything? Oh well, I just want to be good in the things I do.

OK… i’m alittle lost of words right now, thanks to the curry chicken cooked by my father-in-law. It definitely got me distracted, at least for awhile. LOL … for the good I hope.

Never in my life that I’m actually happy that tomorrow is Monday and I can’t wait to be in the office. Am I crazy? hahaha… Can’t wait to pop my laptop and check the mails. Or maybe I should just dial in and check my mails now.. but heck, I want to keep the good stuffs for tomorrow morning. :D

Tips to survive late night in office

Well, part and parcel of handling accounts from different timezone. Just when its 5.30pm here at M’sia, it is peak hour at Belgium.. signn… and 12 midnight here, it is 5.30pm at Belgium, and peak hour at USA.

So far I’ve got stranded a few times due to certain high severity escalations, which requires a quick resolution. But sometimes in the middle of the "resolution phase", there would be some blank minutes or hours, like awaiting feedback, or rebooting.. etc etc. So how do I kill time?

For me and 2 of my team mates, it will be the Wastepaper BasketBall Championship. LOL… don’t get it? See below:

Port forwarding

This is abysmal.. took me 2 months to finally realized that my router required to do port forwarding to gain high speed for torrent downloads. I’ve always had the perception tat my residential area had poor infra.

Not until this evening, deemed bored for good that I’ve decided to check on my router’s software.. then only I realized that the port forwarding can be done via an option screen called the Special Application and Virtual server.

Now my torrent download speed shot up to an average of 30kbps, with highest of 40kbps… from a merely pathetic 1kbps. hahahaha.

Sunny day

I really
love it… this great space of mine in office. Window view and I get lots of the
soft sunlight, filtered by the heavily tinted glass. What is the great big deal?
Yes there are. There are differences between the white light you get from the regular
florescent light tube and natural light.

 

Really sets
off the nice mood. You won’t feel too tired. And best part… I get to see the
clouds… different formations of clouds all the time. It definitely helps to
relax my mind if I’m stuck in some complicated cases.

 

So if you
get a chance to choose your sitting place, please take window view. But make
sure the window is tinted and you have aircon vents on top of you. Else it will
be too hot and glaring.

Turtle Eggs

Anyone tried turtle eggs before? No? This is how it looks like… its slimy.. gooey.. or watever u call. The shell is soft, hence it won’t break even if u just drop it on the table or floor… but of course, it will still "leak" if you throw hard. Yes.. "leak".. not break coz the shell’s soft..

It has this unique taste… which maybe not be favorable to some.. some may feel it is disgusting, while some feels it is tasty. I’ll leave it for you try it for yourself.

You can get it from Kuala Terengganu or Kota Bahru wet market, at price ranging from RM1.80 to RM3.00 for one, depending on size.

But I would seriously discourage you all from buying them from market as they are an endangered species. Save turtles ok? And why I have it? Well, my buddy bought it from KT when he was there over the weekend. I grew up with turtle eggs, as my grandparents are from Kuala Terengganu.. but of course, I grew up to avoid them as there is just too much guilt in it.

OKok.. I promise.. this is the last that I’ll eat.
